The Da Nang Cham Sculpture Museum has a long history, beginning in the late 19th century when Champa artifacts were gathered at the Tourane Park.
In 1915, the museum was officially built, and valuable relics were brought here from sites in Da Nang, Quang Nam, and surrounding areas.
These works were collected by French scholars working for the École Française d’Extrême-Orient (EFEO). In 2011, the museum was ranked as a class 1 museum in Vietnam, confirming the significant cultural and historical value it brings to Champa culture.
The architecture of the Cham Sculpture Museum was designed by two French architects, Delaval and Auclair.
The design combines Cham architecture with European Gothic style, creating a unique and impressive structure.
The building features an arched roof, spacious exhibition rooms with many windows, ensuring natural light illuminates the entire space.
Upon entering the museum, visitors will immediately feel the ancient atmosphere with solemn architectural blocks, the golden hue of walls stained by time, and the attractive white frangipani vines.
The museum currently houses 9 national treasures, each representing a vivid testament to the craftsmanship and uniqueness of the Champa civilization.
